BEFORE YOUR FIRST CHALLENGE

Weight loss competition questions, answered.

The practical details for competing with a group or tracking your own progress.

How do I start an office weight loss competition?

Create a FatMasters account, then create a competition from your dashboard. Set the start date, number of weeks, and weekly closeout day and time. Invite coworkers who have registered by entering their email addresses. Competition managers can help run the challenge.

Can I run a weight loss challenge with friends or family?

Yes. FatMasters works for groups of friends and family as well as office competitions. Each participant creates an account, and an organizer invites them to the competition. Your dashboard keeps your competitions together in one place.

Can I use FatMasters without joining a competition?

Yes. Group weight loss competitions are at the heart of FatMasters, but your personal dashboard works on its own. Log weigh-ins, follow your weight history, create optional personal goals, and earn consistency badges. You can keep using these features before your first challenge, between competitions, or without joining one.

How do personal goals and badges work?

Personal goals are optional. Write your own or start with a suggested goal, then mark it complete when you reach it. Badges are earned automatically from your weigh-in history for your first check-in, a seven-day streak, and 30 check-ins. Your goals and badges belong to your personal dashboard and are separate from competition standings.

Should I log my weight daily or weekly?

FatMasters accepts daily weigh-ins in pounds and closes competition results weekly on the schedule chosen by the organizer. Log today’s weight to unlock standings when a weigh-in is required. You can edit today’s entry while it remains unlocked.

How are weight loss competition standings calculated?

The competition shows weekly changes in pounds and percentages, pounds back from the leader, and overall progress. Optional cumulative offsets and Slug weight can affect weekly scores when enabled. You can review the scoring breakdown and revisit results from previous weeks.

Are Slug weight and token wagers required?

No. Organizers choose whether to enable these rules. Slug weight lets participants accrue weight from weekly losses and assign it to a rival as an offset. Token wagers add weekly awards and a ledger for tracking claims, transfers, and redemptions.

Can I track my weight history and BMI?

Your personal dashboard includes a weight history chart with ranges from one week to five years, weight changes, and your lowest recorded weight. Save your height in your profile to add an optional BMI line and category ranges. You can turn the BMI display off in your profile.

LESS SETUP. MORE SHOWING UP.

From first weigh-in to final podium.

  1. Find your crew

Create an account, then start or join a group competition. You can also begin with personal tracking on your own.

  2. Make it a daily habit

Log your weight, follow your history, and set personal goals if you want to. Your check-ins earn consistency badges along the way.

  3. Play your week

Log today’s weigh-in to see the standings. Follow the race and choose your Slug target if that rule is enabled.

  4. Keep the progress going

Celebrate the final podium, then keep working on your own goals. Your weight history and badges stay with you between challenges.

BETTER TOGETHER. STILL HERE FOR YOU.

Who’s up for a challenge?

Bring your crew, or start with your own goals. One account for both.
